Write an 8-10 page research paper (approximately 2,000 words) on one of the topics discussed in class or in the readings this semester. For references, you may draw from any of the readings this semester on Blackboard, but you must also incorporate at least five outside sources (journal articles or books or other academic works). A good place to start for this is the CCNY library website: https://library.ccny.cuny.edu/. You should cite these sources in either MLA, APA, or Chicago citation style in your paper (I’m not too picky on how you cite your sources, just so long as you are consistent with your style throughout).
The key to writing a good paper is being specific & focused. For example, don’t just write a paper about “The Neolithic”. You’d need to write a paper about “the architecture of Neolithic Scotland”. Or don’t just write a paper about “migration”. You’d need to write something like “Migration into the northwestern United States in 11,000 BCE.” That is, you need to have a geographic focus and a topical focus. You need to write about a specific people in a specific time in a specific place and discuss a specific issue (like technology, economics, religion, kinship, warfare, etc.)
