THE
RED CONVERTIBLE – Louise Erdrich
Your
research paper will analyze one of the plays, poems, short stories we have
covered in this course from the literary perspective of your choice from below:
formalist
new
historicism
feminist
mythological/archetypal
psychoanalysis
biographical
Marxist
Your essay
must contain some scholarly
research (At least two outside resources from the library data base)
and should avoid summary. This scholarly research must be
used in the body paragraphs to support your thesis, not in the introduction or
conclusion. You may use ONLY the library database (link on the left). You may
NOT use SparkNotes, Wikipedia, or any .com source. Proper 9th edition MLA
format is required including in-text citations and works cited.
As with any essay, this one needs a proper introductory paragraph,
body paragraphs that SUPPORT the thesis statement, evidence from the story in
the form of SHORT quotes and/or paraphrases with in-text citations, and commentary following
quotes/paraphrases. The last page will contain the works cited entries.
I will be looking for evidence in the form of
quotes/paraphrases, in-text citations, explication (there should be much more
explication than quoted or paraphrased material, and a works cited entry.
