The assignment gives you the creative license to challenge the wiles of Screwtape and Wormwood by crafting a letter from an angel to a guardian angel in training. Choose a letter from Chapters 17-22 as your focus, and your the patient as one who is in need of guidance or inspiration from his guardian angel. As you develop your letter, be sure to address all of the challenges that Wormwood poses for the patient. You want him to see the “light” of God instead of the darkness of Screwtape. Feel free to use biblical references to help ground your counterargument to Wormwood’s attempts. As best you can, use the language found in the text as a way to establish a voice for your guardian angel. And, as in the novel, give your archangelical and guardian angel names. Be creative in doing so; don’t be afraid to take chances with your writing. The length of your letter should mic the length of the letters in the text. I would say about two-three full pages. Enjoy this assignment, but don’t skimp on it just because it is a creative assignment. This paper will be graded with the same fervor as your previous papers.
