The topic I will be focusing on for this paper will be on tv show & movies or maybe social media outlets with in families.
Decide on HOW you will analyze these relationships (family or intimate) through
social media. You could undertake a gender analysis (e.g., how girls and boys are portrayed in family
settings OR how many same-sex relationships are included in commercials) or a racial depiction (e.g.,
describe racial dynamics within couples in T.V. shows or movies OR racial dynamics in blended
families). You could also do something more creative…Some of the fun papers I remember reading is
how grandparents are portrayed in children’s books.
***Keep mind if you are doing research on children you need to angle it as the child’s role within a
family. Remember you are discussing families Or intimate relationships. Often students will pick the
topic of children, but disregard that they need to focus on the family setting.
