Discuss the border between the United States and Mexico as being the difference in a realm – the difference between North America and Middle America. Because realms have Transition Zones, as opposed to the hard physical boundaries of continents. If you were to divide the world into realms, would you place a realm difference between the United States and Mexico? Why do you think it fits – or does not fit? Please consider whether or not the US and Mexico have a transitional zone in your answer. A large portion of the economic program of Donald Trump’s election speech hindered around the idea of “Make America Great Again” – which spoke, by and large, of the decline of the Secondary Sector of Production. Please explain the decline of the economic Secondary Sector and, to a lesser degree, the Primary Sector, the areas in which the secondary sector and secondary sector have declined the most, and whether or not you believe Trump will be able to deliver on this program of economically recovering these sectors. Consider the regions of North America that your textbook offers starting on page 53. You may notice that the common manner of division used for the US and Canada isn’t there (for example, there’s no Midwest). What are the advantages of the regional system the textbook espouses? What are the drawbacks? One notices that the islands and shore of Middle America are very, very different places than the mainland – in language, culture, socioeconomics, and land use. Please explain some of the major differences between these two zones and how they came to be so different. Choose one country from Middle America (from any region) and write a discussion of it aimed at elementary school students. Explain what inhabitants speak, how they work, what they believe, and tell a little bit about their history. Gun violence has been in the news a great deal recently, and much has been made of America’s very high rates of gun violence. One other country with very high rates of gun violence is Brazil, and several countries in Middle America (El Salvador is especially notable) also have high rates of gun violence as well. What do you think America can learn about gun violence from discussions of other countries in the Americas that also differ from high levels of gun violence? Great Powers have lives, like men, and often they strengthen and weaken. The United States is currently a great power – one country that was recently a wealthy country but is no longer was Argentina. What can the US learn from Argentina’s economic decline?
