1. Identify the writer’s audience. Is the language used appropriate to the audience? 2. Explain. Where can the writer provide more research (examples, quotes, statistics) from his/her three library sources? Are the sources credible, authoritative, and relevant? Are they cited in the document itself? Be sure to review the writer’s Works Cited/References page as well. 3. Organization: Is the report organized logically: a clearly stated purpose, findings (research), conclusions, recommendations? Is each paragraph focused on a single idea? 4. Formatting: Does report utilize the memo format? Is it a reader-centered design (headings, subheadings, bullets, numbered lists)? How might the writer improve upon the design (i.e. is it readable, professional-looking, easy-to-follow)?
