Use socialexplorer.com to make a map of the New York City area. The map should show some aspect of the housing market or the distribution of the population. Here are some ideas:
-the geographic distribution of renters or homeowners across
– neighborhoods in New York City and its suburbs
– the geographic distribution of renters who live in unaffordable
– housing (i.e renters who pay more than 30% [or more than
-50%] of their household income on rent)
-the geographic distribution of households in poverty
-the geographic distribution of people by race
-the geographic distribution of households by income
-Your map must have a title and a legend. Please do not screenshot your map on your computer screen. Make sure to export your map as a .png so that Social Explorer automatically generates the map title and the map legend for you. Social Explorer does not work on mobile devices, so you will need to complete this assignment on either a desktop or a laptop.
After you finalize your map, please write a one-paragraph descriiption of what you mapped and what you learned about the spatial patterning of the population or the housing market of the NYC area.
