you are supposed to write a minimum of 1000 words dealing with the same moral dilemma you have studied throughout our course. You should write the second paper in conversation with our work throughout the semester.

The After Paper should
Provide the rationale(s) for the position you are taking in relation to your Moral Dilemma (whether it is the same or different from your original response)
Discuss Quadrilateral sources you utilize (Reason, Religion/Higher Authority, Tradition, Experience)
Examine modes of reflection you engage (Teleology, Deontology, and/or Areteology)

Quadrilateral sources:
1. The reason- humans have minds to think and make logical decisions we should to the best of human thinking to determine what may be learned from using the best minds that help illuminate the subject When using reason, ask yourself what information do I need to have to make the best informed decision?
2. Religion or Higher Authority- Some people believe that there is a transcendent God and that the Bible or other sacred writings are the very highest written source of inspiration. Thus, they believe that religion or a higher authority is a source for ethical reflection and should be treated as having extreme authority
-When using religion/higher authority ask yourself what wisdom and lessons might I glean from religious traditions?

3.Tradition- We need to know what humans have thought over a long period of time. we will call this tradition. If it was good enough for them, then are there good reasons why I might pay attention? nevertheless, we need to be mindful that people also have been dramatically wrong in the past with issues like subordination of women and slavery
-When using Tradition ask yourself what insights did my ancestors have that can inform my reflections in this case?

4.Experience- As people live their lives- individually and in community with others- they gain experience. This is practical and focused on real-life situations in which humans find themselves. -from living, humans can learn from their experience and use it as a source for ethical reflection
-When using experience ask yourself “what can I learn from my background and day to day reality of that of others?

Three modes of ethical reflection:
1.Teleology- (Consequentialism) – focus on outcomes. What goals are we seeking?
2.Deontology-(Duties)- focus on rights and duties what rules should we follow?
3.Aretology(Virtue Ethics)- focus on what sort of person I am to become if I make this choice. How will this action influence who I am becoming
