For this assignment please select one (or two) of the following TED talks from this link to watch/listen: What Does Family Mean?
(Links to an external site.)
https://www.ted.com/playlists/472/what_does_family_mean
If you choose a talk that is less than 15 minutes, you must watch/listen to an additional talk from the selection.
For those that choose a talk that is 15 mins. (or more), you only need to watch/listen to one talk.
After watching/listening to the TED talk please write a 2-3 page reflection paper, to include the following any or all of the following:
Summarize in no more than 2 paragraphs what the talk was about. If you watched/listened to two (2) talks, write only one (1) paragraph for each talk.
What did you learn from the talk(s) ?
Were new concepts or vocabulary introduced to you? Share what it was.
How might you apply this information to your relationships (any kind)?
What was shared about communication in the talk?
Are there any aspects of this talk that reminded you of your family or a family you know? If so, what and why?
How does the information shared compare to your understanding of what family means?
Don’t forget to provide thoughtful application of the topic(s) to examples, even if they are from your imagination. For example, ” While I do not have first hand experience with this situation, I can imagine that ———–“; or “I can imagine that ——– would be very
challenging based on what —- shared about —-.” or ” —– shared that —— and that reminded me of ——- and the feelings I
experienced, such as —–.” Try to demonstrate your ability to take perspective of the individual/situation that is being described rather
than staying removed from it, doing so will allow for greater understanding and empathy.
Refer to the syllabus for paper formatting.
DO NOT include a title or reference page.
DO ADD a running header with the name of the TED talk you selected. (https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/general_format.html
