Family Social Work Research Paper
Research Paper Guidelines:
The paper should be double-spaced, at least 3 pages in length–must use Microsoft Word. You should utilize APA-style documentation for this paper. This means you should have in-text citations and works cited page.
Selecting a topic:
The topic you choose for your research paper must relate to the subject of the family. Your paper must also address resources and programs that are available through various social work/community agencies that help families deal with problems. For example, if you choose child abuse; try to locate programs in your community or nearby community that provides services to abused children, i.e., Community Based Services–Child Protection, Family Preservation Programs through Comprehensive Care, etc. The Internet will be a wonderful resource for learning about various programs in your community, but I would also like to see you research agencies in the community to see what they have to offer citizens.
You are not limited to these topics–be creative, and you must narrow these topics down. Example: if you choose Alcoholism, narrow that topic down to address a specific issue related to alcoholism such as financial impact on the family, fetal alcohol syndrome, adult children of alcoholics, etc. This is just an example; please make sure that you do narrow your topic choice.
You need to draw on at least 3 sources for your paper. You can use any type of source for the paper, i.e., newspapers, journals, periodicals and of course, the Internet, but one of the sources must be from a scholarly journal.
