Situation One: The lead accountant at Topper Glass has discovered that James Pederson, the Vice President for Sales and Marketing, borrowed $15,000 from company funds to pay off personal legal fees. He did repay the money without interest one month later, but the loan was unauthorized.
Other employees at the company have heard about the loan; they demand that the President take action, even though Pederson is a top employee and the President’s close friend. What should the President do? In a formal recommendation report, describe an optimal solution for the president.
