TOPIC FAMILY TRAMA AND STRESS
ECED 1303- Field Experience Journal
The purpose of the journal is to reflect on videos/journal articles related to some aspect of children and families. Each journal entry should follow a K-W-L format.
1- Know: First, discuss what you know, in general, about the topic (Do Not View the Videos or Read the Articles YET).
2- Want to Know: Second, discuss what you want to learn more about, in terms of the topic.
3- Learned: Third, discuss what you learned after viewing the videos/reading the articles.
Each entry will be submitted via the journal submission link in Blackboard. The following checklist should be used when completing each entry.

Example:
If the topic is “Family Trauma/Stress” then your K section would include any information you already know about trauma and stress families experience. You could include your personal experience with trauma or stress (or the experience of someone you know).
Your W section would include any questions you have about the topic. What do you want to know about family trauma and stress? What specific questions do you have about the the effects of trauma on young children?
Your L section would include what you learned about trauma and stress after viewing the videos and reading the articles. Did you learn anything you did not already know? How does trauma and stress relate to you as a future teacher? Why is it important to have insight into the effects of trauma in children and families? What questions do you still have about trauma and stress?
