For this project you must write a witness interview. Choose a news article where a crime was committed and imagine that you are interviewing the victim of the crime and imagine that the victim is either not a cis male or comes from a diverse cultural background or both.
I. Tell me the facts of the case. What happened? And to whom did it happen?
II. Detail why this interview may present some challenges or how the interview will be structured in a way that acknowledges the departure from the cis, white, male standard. What barriers could there be and why? How will you establish rapport and demonstrate your cultural competency in the interview? How does your status as an imagined law enforcement officer impact this person directly or their community?
Then write the questions that you would need to ask to find out the information and tell me explicitly with each question, how and why your wording and demeanor could help you to get the information that you need and help you to support the victim. You do not need to repeat yourself so if you explain your demeanor in the first question, you need not detail it moving forward unless it changes. This interview is worth up to 50 points.
