For your Signature Assignment, you will complete a review of the literature using the following headings:
Introduction
Begin with a few sentences that describe the substance-related or addictive disorder and the population that will be the focus of the review. Then introduce support for why this area of research is necessary. Include a paragraph that states the topics and subtopics that will be presented in the literature. In the last paragraph, state the search engines and keywords or phrases used to locate research. This first section should be about one page.
Theoretical Framework
Describe the guiding theoretical/conceptual framework of the area of focus for the literature review. Explain the origin and development of the framework. Demonstrate detailed knowledge of and familiarity with both the historical and the current literature on the framework. This section should be 1-2 pages.
Major Topic
Thoroughly explore the topic, ensuring that all subtopics are cohesive and align with the main topic. Begin discussing the area of focus by providing a critical analysis of the research, including the strengths and weaknesses of the studies for each subtopic. Make sure you provide a synthesis of the studies presenting how the information converges (show agreement) around each subtopic and diverges (show disagreement). Present a balanced integrative critical review of the literature, ensuring all points of view are included. This section should be 9-12 pages.
Summary
Briefly restate the key points discussed in the document. Be sure to include a take-home (the important information that has been obtained from examination of research) discussion based on the critical review. Review the headings and/or table of contents to ensure all key points are covered. This should be 1 page.
