Interview a friend or family member who is willing to talk with you for 20-30 minutes about a concern. 2. Write a paper analyzing your skills in this interview, including the following elements: a. A brief introduction describing the client’s presenting problem, relationship to you, setting, your feelings when starting the interview, and goals you have for the interview b. Transcribe one example for each of these skills (5 total) 1. paraphrasing (restating) 2. open-ended question 3. seeking concreteness 4. empathic listening (reflecting) 5. one of the following: a. self-disclosure b. confrontation c. interpretation (When you transcribe an interaction, use the following format: Client: I’m feeling unsure about what to do. Social Worker: You’re not sure which way to go. Client: Yeah. I want to go to graduate school, but my mom tells me I’m not smart enough.) After each transсrіption, write a paragraph identifying the interviewing skill you were attempting to use and analyzing your strengths and/or difficulties in demonstrating this skill. At the end of the paper, write a conclusion section describing what you learned about yourself and this client from this exercise.
