As always, submit your assignment to Brainfuse for tutoring prior to submission.
Write a 1,000-to 1,200-word review. You select the topic–an experience, film, restaurant (my personal favorite!). To be successful, make certain your review contains the following:
a manageable category for a useful comparison–don’t select McDonald’s and compare it to a steakhouse.
all three elements: judgment, criteria, and evidence
realistic criteria for the thing you are comparing. Don’t overgeneralize or be too idealistic
be fair and balanced
In order to evaluate something, you need to compare it with the ideal example of that particular thing. There are three key things involved in a review:
1) Judgment: something is good or bad, useful or not useful, important or not important, convincing or not convincing, pleasant or unpleasant.
2) Criteria: these are the reasons we judge something as good, bad, useful, etc. The more you know about your subject, the better your criteria will be.
3) Evidence: criteria will be the basis on which you evaluate the subject, but evidence will provide the specific details you need to make your evaluations persuasive.
