Overview:
This assignment will allow you to shoot an image using Camera RAW that embodies the concept of TIME, FUTURE or PAST and process the image using the Basic tab in Adobe Camera RAW.
Shoot this image during the day under average lighting conditions. When shooting your image, incorporate something you love into the image and remember to use solid compositional techniques. This image should be interesting to look at!
You will upload a single file containing all three images–an unedited version, a version where you create custom edits and an edit where you use the Auto tab. You may submit your RAW adjustment information by taking a screen shot of each edit panel and combining them, submitting a screen shot of each edit panel or transcribe the information and type it in.
Instructions:
Set your camera file type to shoot in RAW
Shoot an image using Camera RAW as the image quality that embodies the idea of TIME, FUTURE or PAST
I’ve included an example of an image that represents the idea of PAST to me

Open your image in Adobe Camera RAW
Perform no edits
Open in Photoshop
File>Save As>Save as a jpg
Open the RAW file back up in Adobe Camera RAW
Perform custom edits in the Basic tab
note the adjustment settings (Exposure numbers, etc)
Open in Photoshop
File>Save As>Save as a jpg with a different name than your first image
Open the RAW file in Adobe Camera RAW
Click the Auto tab
note the adjustment numbers
Open in Photoshop
File>Save As>Save as a jpg with a different name than your first or second image
Combine all three images together on one canvas and label each image using the TEXT tool in Photoshop
Include information about your exposure (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, lens focal length–this can be found in the Camera RAW Basic dialog box right under the histogram)
Submit either screen shots of your RAW adjustment numbers, a combined image of all three screen shots or transcribe them and submit the info in the text box
Include Edit information and numbers in your submission
You may include typed information or a screen shot of the Basic edit information (like I’ve included in the example)
Submit a short reflection (about 100-150 words) indicating the following:
What compositional tool (rule of thirds, golden ratio, frame within a frame, etc.) is being used? How?
What elements and principles of design (symmetrical balance, line, shape, etc.) are used?
What photographic construct (depth of field, motion) is used and how?
include in your reflection how the custom edits differ from the Auto edits and which you feel is the best representation of the image and why
