You may choose ANY public policy to analyze, as long as it’s a policy relevant to the Texas state government, such as minimum wage, college education, abortion, marijuana, healthcare access, gun violence prevention, gambling, public education, etc.
The paper will be written into sections of analyzing the chosen policy, the sections are as follows:
1st SECTION: Define the issues with the policy and ask a question (1 paragraph)
EXAMPLE: Should abortion be a federal issue or a state issue?
2ND SECTION: Identify 2 policy solutions, each one will have its own paragraph. (2 paragraphs)
3RD SECTION: Evaluate the policy solutions, and identify the pros and cons of each solution (2 paragraphs)
4TH SECTION: Compare policy solutions; which one wields better results? Which one is more efficient? What is the economic feasibility? What is the likelihood of the policy being enacted? etc. (2 paragraphs)
SECTION 5: Identity which policy solution should be implemented and explain the recommendation using evidence, reason, and persuasion.
Note that the essay can conclude with no changes to policy, but it must be supported. (1 Paragraph)
