Your assignment is to research a person in history who tried to make a positive impact on society but was eventually/originally (you can choose either) excluded or shunned because of his/her ideology and actions. You must show considerable knowledge of the historical figure you choose as well as how he/she connects to a modern day issue or public figure. Your research paper should address the following:
● Write a Brief history of your person/ideology
● What effect did this person/ideology have on society?
● What effect did this person/ideology intend to have on society?
● Why was this person/ideology excluded or isolated from society?
● Who excluded this person/ideology from society?
● What effect did this isolation have on the person’s life and interaction with his/her environment?
● What lesson can we learn about leadership from this moment in history?
● Connect your historical figure to a modern day issue or present public figure. Provide specific
examples from both to support your connection.
Develop writing that demonstrates a command of standard American English as well as research, organization,
and drafting strategies. Select a specific topic that has a “provable” component to it. In other words, do not create a report that solely gives information on a topic. Choose a historical figure from today’s brainstorming session and prove something specific in regards to impact and/or significance.
