Using genomes from dogs and wolves throughout the world, researchers have matched sequences of
DNA and conclude that the closest match between wolves and dogs is in the Middle East. Earlier beliefs
were that dogs were first domesticated in East Asia. These findings put the domestication of dogs at the
same location and the same time as plant domestication.
