Narrative Paper
I. Introduction 1) Introduce the topic you have chosen to thread throughout the
curriculum.
2) Need for topic to be
threaded: Discuss importance of incorporating selected concept/thread into a
nursing curriculum (e.g., culture, ethics, health policy, professional
leadership, inter-professional education, etc.). Student must offer a well-developed
discussion that is supported by evidence from the education literature and
research.
3) This must be a well-developed and written
narrative explaining using evidence from the educational literature
demonstrating why this topic should be threaded throughout nursing curriculum
rather than be a course. Discussion must include an explanation of the
rationale for threading this topic/content throughout the curriculum rather
than having it as an individual course.
4)
Requires a minimum of 5 health and/or nursing journal references other than
textbook to support this section.
5)
This must be 2 pages in length.
II. Strategies for Threading Content
1)
Student must review examples from nursing and health care educational
literature regarding 4 different teaching strategies/activities that have been
used to teach content (2022) 10 in educational settings. This requires
supportive evidence from the health education literature that assesses these
methods usefulness in teaching content to students.
2)
Students must critically assess the research/literature on these teaching
strategies that were used, identifying the strengths of the teaching methods,
level of students these methods would work best with and explanation of each of
the 4 methods can be used in teaching the concept the student has chosen to
address in nursing education.
3) Students must describe how they would use
each these different teaching methods and activities to teach this topic
throughout the curriculum in different courses from lower level to higher level
courses. You will demonstrate how you are using 3 of these 4 methods in the 2nd
part of this assignment.
4)
This section must be supported by evidence from the education literature that
discusses methods/strategies to teach this content in nursing and/or other
health programs.
5) Must have a minimum of 6 professional
peer-reviewed journal references other than the textbook to support this
section and different from the references used in the introduction section.
(please note websites are not professional references and do not count as part
of the required references).

This should be 3 pages in length.
III. Course Threading Examples:
1.
Identify ONE Program Outcome from the BSN essentials that were posted by
Professor that the concept chosen addresses
2.
Write one Student Outcome for each of 3 of the courses below

Teaching example: Pick 3 of the courses listed in the table below and write
your student outcome in the table next each of the 3 courses you chose.
4. For
each of the 3 courses you chose students must CREATE a teaching activity
showing g how you are treading your topic thru the course (3 teaching examples
in all).
5. For
the 3 teaching examples students MUST use the examples presented in the
narrative of this paper
. a.
Students must CREATE their teaching materials and submit them. (examples
include: Games, interactive lectures, cartoons, etc.). All materials must be
developed by the student and their own original work.
b.
Students must create an example of a classroom activity that demonstrates
applying the concepts of the topic in the activity that is being incorporated
into the classroom.
c. At least one activity to teach the threaded
content must include how to teach this in an on line course. This could be a
discussion board, game, assignment, etc. But it must be something that could be
done if teaching the course on line.
d. Students must upload all teaching materials
with their submission of their written paper.

For example: write a paper on what we are going to thread through
the program (interprofessional collaboration) and explain how and why we are
threading this through the program. Program outcome “Develop inter
professional communications to effectively communicate and collaborate in an
interdisciplinary care team to deliver safe and quality patient care while
developing improved patient outcomes”
We also have to write the teaching plans and student
outcomes for 3 courses that we are planning to thread the topic.
