Assignment #2
Charter Analysis
Many of you are already working in the public sector, working with the public sector, or will likely find yourselves working in the public sector in the future. This assignment relates the Charter questions that that we will discuss in class directly to your work experience or career aspirations
Keeping the above in mind, in a brief essay of no more than 8 pages, and using at least 7 sources, answer the following questions:
Describe the area that you work or would like to work in.
What civil rights concerns are relevant in your area of work?
How does the Charter apply?
Paper elements:
Organize your paper around relevant legal issues and analyze each in turn. Think about saying something about the overall impact of the Charter on your area. This will form a useful organizing narrative and will prevent you paper from looking like a bullet list.
Make it as relevant as possible to what you do.
Make use of the textbook (Constitutional Law by Patrick J Monahan, Byron Shaw.) to start you research. I’m expecting to see evidence, in the form of citations, that it was used.
Cite carefully! There is no excuse, at this level, for any form of plagiarism. If in doubt, err on the side of citing too often.
When citing pick and stick with a particular citation style.
Appropriate sources are cases, the textbook and academic articles. Do not use newspaper sources or similar for this paper.
