(Links to an external site.)As a short 4-6 pages paper (see note in #3 below for a 3-4 page option) using APA format (no abstract or title page necessary) identify a data source that is personally relevant to your day to day operation. There are several different and unique data sets available that may be of interest to you. Many data sets play an important role in almost all of the topics we are covering in this course and across the program. In your overview provide an assessment of the following:
1. High Level Overview – What is the purpose of the data, how often is it collected and disseminated to the public? How is this data set relevant to you currently?
2. Data Collected Overview – What types of data are collected? Numeric, non-numeric, etc. How is the data organized? Just about every data file on healthdata.gov comes with a data dictionary that is useful to review. Are there ethical considerations either with the collection or use of this type of information?
3. Option 1 – One calculation – In this course we have covered several techniques (pivot tables for count statistics, trending and predictions). Create one original analysis of the data file on your and present the finding as a table, graphic, or bullet point findings.
Option 2 – Three calculations – if you provide 3 calculations and the associated overview of each, your overall paper length can be 3 – 4 pages.
4. Summary – General findings from #3 and conclusions on the value of the data set.
