Over the semester you have learned about sex, gender, and sexuality as they relate to culture. You have seen how these aspects of personhood empower and oppress people in changing, culturally specific ways. Now, you have an opportunity to select an area for deeper, self-directed research.
Paper Option
Choose a topic related to law and social identity in the U.S. as the focus of your 6-8 page (1,500-2,000 word) paper.
Make a claim about this topic,
Defend it using at least one outside peer-reviewed source and at least two assigned or recommended sources from class (one of which must be peer-reviewed), and
Include at least one concept we have discussed — such as the social construction of gender roles, intersectional violence, or transformative justice — and explain how they relate to your topic.
