Early in her essay, Schulz examines numerous types of loss, concluding that “we lose things because we are flawed; because we are human; because we have things to lose” (199). However, she doesn’t stop there, and in fact, continues to make connections among types of loss ranging from losing things, losing memory, and losing a loved one.
