Note: It is helpful to analyze job compensation packages from an employee and a business’ perspective, but as a Business Analyst you are tasked with writing an objective report.
A head coach wants to recruit athletes and you are brought on as a Business Intelligence Analyst for the national team’s Human Resources Department.
You are tasked with writing an objective report for the head coach of a national championship team to come up with a standard compensation package to recruit athletes. As you have recently being brought on board, the head coach as provided you the data he wants you to refer to regarding Baseball salaries.
Refer to the Baseball salaries workbook, write a report on key metrics of the data including measures of central tendency, measures of variability. Write a report about what other information or factors you would like to consider and the standard compensation package you would recommend to the head coach . Consider a point base salary, a baseline salary range, nonsalary benefits as well including PTO, health insurance coverage options (whether it includes visual, dental), short-term & long-term disability, profesional athlete insurance, 401k retirement plan contributions, and additional income streams such as marketing contracts. Include at least one graph in your report (Hint: Box and Whisker plot, Histogram, Bar graph by position). Your report should generally justify the national team’s standard compensation package to attract and retain top athletes while providing financial stability and growth for the athletes, the athletes’ families, and the national team.
Compare your compensation plan recommendations with other national teams, i.e. competitors, by using at least three references cited in APA 7th Ed.
Include a response to the following question in concluding remarks: Would the analysis change if you were writing this report from the athlete or employee’s perspective or as the employee or athlete’s agent?
Format: Write a 1-3 substantive pages report, double-spaced, in Times New Roman font, size 12. Include a title page, a references page and in-text citations. You must submit a Microsoft Word document file titled with your full name + Industry name (Baseball) + Compensation Package Report.
If you paraphrase another source, you must use an in-text citation. See sample APA 7th Ed. Paper under Start Here. If you use a direct quote, you must HIGHLIGHT the text in yellow, use “quotations” (author’s last name, year published), and an in-text citation.
Use a minimum of 3 references. Remember to cite references in APA 7th Ed. Include a screenshot of the references generated by the citation website. Suggested citation websites include easybib.com, citationmachine.net, and scribbr.com. However, you may use another citation website that you prefer. Include a screenshot of the list of references in APA 7th Ed. generated by the citation website. It is recommended that you save all assignment files using cloud storage such as Microsoft Onedrive or Dropbox to avoid losing work due to computer failures.
Quotes from websites or other sources that are not properly credited through the use of quotes, in-text citation, highlighting, and full citations under the references section will lead to the student earning a 0 on the assignment. Quotes from other students’ work are not acceptable unless the work has been published or is available to the public.
Generally, if students follow the rubric and assignment instructions and the student submits succinct, original, quality work, the student should earn full credit. Voluminous work is not necessary to earn full credit. Rather, students’ work can be succinct after conducting comprehensive research to earn full credit on this assignment.

Once you have submitted your Final Research Project, share your baseline compensation plan with the class under Discussions. The Discussion submission will count as a homework assignment.
