Select a primary (peer-reviewed) article about any developmental biology topic relevant to this course. The article must be a primary article reporting structured research, and therefore must include variables, statistical analyses, relationships among variables, etc.
The following types of articles are NOT to be used:
purely theoretical or hypothetical papers which discuss concepts and propositions, without reporting empirical research;
statistical or methodological papers where data may be analyzed but the bulk of the work is on refinement of a measurement, statistical, or modeling technique;
review articles, which summarize the research of many different previously published research, but report no original research by the author;
popularized or abridged reports, commonly found in popular newsstand magazines such as Science Daily or books of readings designed for use by undergraduates;

In short, after you have followed the action steps outlined for reading an article for review – write a draft of your summary. Here are some rules to follow to earn a complete for this assignment:
The summary should be no more than 2 pages, single spaced.
Begin the summary with a complete citation of the article you are reviewing
Your summary must be written by you with zero plagiarism
Your summary should include answers to the questions listed on the guide, but not in an outline format. Your summary should include an introductory paragraph, a descriiption of what the researchers did (methods used in general terms), a summary of major findings of the research and what the authors learned, and a summary that includes your own analysis and evaluation (critique) of the article.
Your critique is not your opinion, it is an evaluation of the science, approach, and interpretation of findings.
Make sure to use journal reflection 8 as a first draft for your article review to get feedback for your final submission.
