In at least Two (2) double-spaced (font-size 12) pages, write a response to the following question: “Do you agree/disagree with Net Neutrality”, stating your thoughts with references to both articles cited above AND the textbook. What I am seeking here is for you to react to what you read, NOT repeating what Net Neutrality means. TRY TO USE SOME OF THE MATERIAL YOU’VE LEARNED FROM TEXT. Failure to do so will lose points. To be clear, I am NOT looking for you to write a synopsis of the article; instead, what I am seeking is for you to discuss your thoughts on Net Neutrality based upon what you’ve learned regarding government regulation. As a hint, when the government gets involved in forcing a nice-sounding outcome (like net neutrality), it actually skews the market and reduces neutrality – I’ll leave it to you to explain why that’s the case. Here’s another hint – the Internet has worked fine for all these years and no one complained about it, so why change anything? Be creative.

Before proceeding, it’s important for you to realize that Net Neutrality is likely NOT what you think it is. Introduced during the Obama administration, it involves GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION regarding the Internet. As you proceed with this assignment, keep this in mind. Despite its name, Net Neutrality (what you originally thought) actually existed for decades PRIOR to the government becoming involved. Sometimes, governments use names that dissuade commonsense interpretations as a means to cloak what they really mean. The selected phrases as a way to confuse or to distract from the actual intent. * * * * “What Net Neutrality Rules Say” and “FCC-15-24A1” [browse section II. Executive Summary only] which can be found in Course Documents. These articles will be the foundation of your project. Net neutrality has been a topic of debate since the FCC introduced the Open Internet Order in 2015. The former FCC chairman, Ajit Pai, appointed by the Trump administration, does not favor regulations that enforce net neutrality. He believes net neutrality regulations inhibit competition and that removing net neutrality will incentivize players to invest more in the infrastructure that is expensive and massive. According to the BBC, “FCC commissioners voted to start the process to end net neutrality rules in May, and the commission is now conducting a public consultation on the issue. Americans have until the end of August to comment on the plans.”
