Write a paper based research via UC Merced Library resources and direct site visits. Document and analyze spatial phenomena through textual and multimodal forms. Develop original interpretation and analysis of the built environment. The Spatial Research Essay serves as the centerpiece of your own original inquiries into the built environment. This project is divided into two sequential phases to help you conduct your research and develop your analysis. In Project : Students will define a specific topic to analyze and conduct textual research through the UC Merced Library. You are invited to develop your own research topic, but your Proposal should have a clear spatial dimension that you can investigate directly. As we have discussed, our own towns, cities, neighborhoods, parks, memorials, transportation hubs, infrastructure, etc. are rich, layered, historical canvases to analyze.
