You will be assigned to a “child and family” case study with a very brief and broad description (age, ethnicity,
economic status, community, and learning needs).
Write a more detailed description of the child and family. In your description, include:
o An expanded description of the family’s diverse background
o Analysis of the effects of this diverse background on the child and family. (NAEYC 2a)
o Pedagogically correct information about the child’s learning needs and strengths
Create a learning plan for the child including:
o Current learning needs and strengths
o Ways that you as “the teacher” are meeting his/her needs and enhancing strengths in the
classroom
o Ideas for you to further assist in the child’s learning and strategy suggestions for families to
support their child at home

Create a list of at least 3 websites that are appropriate for the families to use as resources for
assisting their child. In the write-up of each of the websites, include:
o Detailed description of the offerings in the site and what can be done within the site
o Specific ways that the family can use the website that will assist the child in his/her development
and learning
o Possible outcomes for the family that uses this site as a resource to assist the child/ how this
resource will affect the child in a positive way
o At least one of the websites must focus on a community-specific resource
