professional interest. Develop an original thesis statement and support your argument with the texts from
the course. Page length (including bibliography): UG 6 pg, GRAD 10. In the paper, include:

d. One self-selected Black women’s memoir, not assigned for class (10 points)

• Engage the three framework authors from course readings (Bell-Scott, to analyze Black women’s
life writing in some aspect of daily life or social interactions, politics, policy, popular culture,
literature, art, etc.
• Engage REAL BAD NEWS. Locate how these sourcessubstantiate or undermine course texts. Identify
how sources define concepts like “self, reclamation, resistance, and transformation” along with
other themes like epistles (letters) and #HistoricalWellness. Identify what knowledge claims Black
women make. Cite information, but also question how claims are made and what limitations or
problems this information raises for how to interpret memoirs and autobiographies.
• Make an original argument and provide evidence to back up your claims. Put two or more authors
from course readings in conversation to expand on or develop a key debate within public health.
My professional interest is a therapist to sexual assault, human trafficking survivors
