In a 2 page write-up, explore the historicity of significant scientific concepts found in the work. In other words, what scientific developments were occurring close to the time of the writing of the work? What influence did scientific research have on the work (and vice-versa)? How did the “science” of the novella reflect attitudes and beliefs, however erroneous, of the time period? Be sure to cite specific passages and any outside sources you used to support your argument.
