By reading music reviews by professional journalist we experience the different ways we can use language to talk about music. In turn, our own ability to translate what we hear into words is improved, and we become more capable writers.
All students are to read ten music reviews over the course of the semester. You are encouraged to pick a review of music by an artist that you enjoy. You will record the link to the review and write 2-3 sentences about what you liked about the writing. Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and All Music are three of many places to find reviews.
In addition, you are to select 10 pieces of music from the Suggested Listening (found in Course Materials) and write 2-3 sentences about what you liked or disliked about the music. Make sure you write down the name of the composer and the piece.
