My Bloody Life Community Analysis (Final Class Paper)
The purpose of this paper is to allow the student the opportunity to create an assessment based on the book “My Bloody Life – The Making of a Latin King” by Reymundo Sanchez.
The following reading materials are important for the completion of this paper:
1. My Bloody Life – Reymundo Sanchez
2. All of the assigned readings in your Hutchison’s Text Book.
3. If students wish to learn more about the gang life in Chicago, they can download and print the document: “Gang Suppression and Intervention Models” By Dr. Irving Spergel a publication released by U.S. Department of Justice – Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The article can be downloaded at http://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles/gangcorr.pdf.
The following sections and information must be identified in the paper:
1. Introduction
2. Family-Based issue:
Present a brief descriiption of Reymundo’s family. THIS PORTION IS NOT TO EXCEED ONE PAGE.
Identify at two-three familial based issues related to the family’s functioning as a system. Explain why these issues impact an individual and/or a family. Utilize evidence-based research to support your assertions.
Describe how the Latin Kings help to fulfill the needs in Reymundo’s life.
3. Community-Based Issues:
Identify and explain two-three environmental forces and factors that help empower the lifestyles of the Latin Kings.
Based on the concepts of social and economic justice, how does society contribute to the marginalization of this community?
4. Community-Based Assessment:
Present the “macro” institutions that are presented in the life of Reymundo and describe how effective they are in impacting community life. Schools, police, courts, etc …
Based on “Community Models”, what solutions do you propose for gang intervention?
Use appropriate APA format including cover page, abstract, citations, headers, page numbers, running head and references (3-5 peer-reviewed references, NOT including those mentioned above).
The paper should be 5-8 pages in length, not including cover page and reference page.
