In January 2022, The Department of Labor’s (DoL) Wage & Hour Division and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen enforcement of the laws administered by each agency. One area that both agencies see an opportunity to work together is the misclassification of employees. How can an employer misclassify an employee?
WEEKLY DISCUSSION FORUMS
Weekly discussion Forums are a way for you to engage with each other about the course content. In order to get full credit for each discussion, you will need to post a thoughtful, well-written response to the question and respond to at least one of your classmates’ answers. Citations and references are highly appreciated because they are indicators how serious you are to do your own research before jumping into the discussion.
My intent is to allow students to begin each discussion. All opinions and experiences, no matter how different or controversial they may be perceived, must be respected in the tolerant spirit of academic discourse. You are encouraged to comment, question, or critique an idea but you are not to attack an individual. Working as a community of learners, we can build a polite and respectful course community.
The following tips will enhance the discussion forum experience for everyone in the course:
Do not dominate any discussion.
Do not use offensive language.
Present ideas appropriately. For example, do not capitalize all letters since this could suggest shouting.
Avoid using vernacular and/or slang language. This could possibly lead to misinterpretation.
Keep an “open-mind” and be willing to express the minority opinion.
Think and edit before you push the “Send” button.
Using humor is acceptable but remember that some types of humor are offensive to others.
