1. The introduction paragraph should:
o introduce the situation where you’re imagining an opportunity to travel through time,
o identify where would you go (be specific!),
o briefly describe the location and time period of your chosen civilization, and
o provide a clear thesis statement that explains exactly where you would choose to go and why.
2. The first body paragraph should:
o cite information from the textbook or another credible source to provide appropriate supporting details
o include relevant historical background information,
o provide a general summary/description of what the time period was like for the chosen culture/civilization in its historical context, and
o explain what you find most interesting, surprising, or inspiring about your choice of civilization overall.
3. The second body paragraph should:
o cite information from the textbook or another credible source to provide appropriate supporting details
o clearly identify and discuss at least two specific cultural aspects as specific reason(s) why you are interested in your choice
o Use the list of seven categories of a civilization to identify the specific cultural aspects.
i. Technology (i.e. discoveries, inventions, advancements in knowledge, etc.)
ii. Food Supply (i.e. trade, economy, surplus/scarcity, irrigation, land fertilization, etc.)
iii. Arts (i.e. music, fashion, entertainment & games, literature, architecture, paintings, sculptures, etc.)
iv. Written Language (i.e. written words, number systems, recorded information, materials used to write/document, etc.)
v. Government (i.e. government structure, wars, conquests, etc.)
