I am looking for a paper that focuses on American capitalism by pulling in the novel American Psycho, along with other academic journal sources. My class is “Histories of American Violence” – I am looking to focus on Weber’s method class stratification (wealth, power, prestige – these are very important, as they are on my visual, followed by more granular categories). The protagonist of American Psycho, Patrick Bateman, is a metaphor for American Capitalism (in the evil sense – money, greed, power, dominance, violence, materialism). I am looking to draw in the time period of the Industrial Revolution through modern day.
