Students are required to research and critically select a number of high-quality academic journal articles that they believe explore issues related to key accepted evidence-based “best” practices in developing metacognition skills for assessment and mathematics assessment approaches in general. They should state a number of research evidence-based practices, discuss these fully and outline the chief benefits to students. Students should clearly utilize a variety of critical approaches to synthesize this specialized knowledge and demonstrate a critical understanding in the field. Key to this synthesis will be the provision of evidence of why these selected practices are ‘best’, and how this can be integrated into everyday mathematics classroom teaching.
