RED: What does he or she want when we first meet him or her? What has he/she wanted in the backstory of the novel? If it is not named, tell what you suppose is his/her goal? If the novel does not name a goal directly, make a guess at to his or her goal and explain what in the book leads you to that guess. BLUE: How does he or she plan to get it, if they have plans. What are the stages of his/her planning? Describe them. PURPLE: What conflict or obstacle stops them from getting what they want? State if it is mostly internal conflict or external or is it a combination of both? Describe which of the six types of conflict noted below that your character experiences. Name and explain your character′s actions and dialog in this part when she/he is prevented from reaching his or her goal. What happens? What are the actions? What does the character think? How does he/she feel? What does the character plan as a way around the obstacle? This part may take several paragraphs if the character cycles through several obstacles or conflicts. GREEN: Do they win? Lose? What is the outcome of each conflict? Does winning or losing a conflict change their goal or not? What happens next?
