Choose a key term from one of the theorists since Week 5—one that you think will be useful or helpful for your rhetorical analysis. You have a variety of options each week from which to choose. Note that understanding the theories we study requires an understanding of the key terms the authors use to describe their concepts. Those key terms are what you are looking for. Try finding one that you think will help you interpret workplace writing. Even though you’ll carry this assignment out on an odd week, consider covering terms from even weeks, too.•Do some research on the term you chose. You can start with the original texts of theorists. You will usually be able to find scholarship on the terms you choose, too. Below, you will find a list of academic journals in which you can search for scholarship on your chosen key term. Searching for “Aristotle” and “topoi,” for example, will likely
yield a wide range of scholarship that will help you learn about the term. There are some examples of scholarship of this nature in the suggested readings. Don’t hesitate to ask your instructor for help.•Don’t forget to keep track of APA citations!•Post a 150-200-word message in your CLC group by Day 3 that does the following:1.Summarize the term to the best of your understanding, based on the research you did.2.Explain and explore relationships between your chosen term and one from a previous week. You might also dwell on points of connection or disconnection and explore them. (This step is not necessary during Week 1.)

This is the term that I need to use : Irony

One of the sources are linked.

The term that I must connect it to is Paranomesia and this is how it was defined from a fellow classmate :
Humor is an essential part of life and can be an effective tool with regards to persuasion,
5specifically with building a relationship with one’s audience. Paronomasia is “A pun or play on words, using similar words to express different ideas” (Bizzell et al., 2020, p. 3320). As found by a study done in 2014, “Creative word play is a skill employed by poets, songwriters, inventors, advertisers and most writers to make their work more memorable, entertaining and interesting…. and increases task enjoyment” (Webb, 2014, p. 1). Basically, it is an infusion of humor, either forthright or subtle, through a manipulation of language. Paronomasia is a powerful way for the author to draw attention to certain words or phrases to emphasize particular points so they stand out and stick in the reader’s mind. It plays on certain aspects of the discussion or presentation and can be a way to demonstrate the speaker’s wit, humanity, or general opinion. Dialect is the practice of going back and forth with an audience to come to a conclusion. Paronomasia could relate to dialect in that it can help one’s points resonate more with the other side. For example, many times in political arenas/debates one might see opponents going back and forth discussing important topics and trying to persuade those listening (and their opponents) that the speaker is correct. It can get overwhelming, so infusing the discussion with small doses of humor can increase relatability while also emphasizing a point. However, generally speaking paronomasia is seen as lighter and more lyrical, where the dialect is focused more on logic and discussion in order to persuade.
