Write a film essay about Film industry The purpose of this essay is to analyze the films themselves (rather than their paratexts). Drawing on the required readings, please compare and contrast the ways in which ✦two or more films✦ depict the process of filmmaking and/or the film industry. Pay as much attention to “film style” and “mode of production” (i.e., Classical/New Hollywood – independent/indie – art/world cinema, etc.) as the narrative content of the films. Contextualizing the films historically by discussing their production, distribution and reception histories is important, but the focus should be more on the texts themselves (rather than the contexts informing them, or their paratexts, as in essay #2). In your essay, you must engage with the required readings in the syllabus, applying what you’ve learned from the readings to your new understanding of the movies in question, and the film industry generally.
