Cohabitation, also known as living together, involves two adults, unrelated by blood or by law, involved in an emotional and sexual relationship who sleep in the same residence at least four nights a week for three months. Seven million other sex couples and 727,000 same sex couples cohabit. There are multiple reasons for the increase in cohabitation – your textbook discusses 9 of them.
