1. Begin your post by sharing the name of the organization you presented during the week 2 discussion board and name its grouping model (customer/market, geographic, functional, matrix, hybrid, or program).
2. Explain your board’s governance model and discuss whether you feel it supports or impedes the grouping model you mentioned in prompt 1. Include at least one article from a peer-reviewed journal or chapter from a published book that supports your assertions on governance. Expound on the citation in your own words.
(Note: If you are unsure of the board’s governance model, identify the governance model that you believe would be optimal based on the organization’s grouping model and explain why you believe it supports or impedes the functionality of grouping model.)
3a. Review your organization’s Form 990 (taxes). Access your organization’s most recent Form 990 – Sections VI and VII through this website. Complete the IRS Governance Check Sheet, Parts 2-7. If there is an area you are unable to answer, enter NA. Attach a copy of the completed Check Sheet to this week’s post. You may have to (a) print the pdf then scan a copy or (b) save a screen shot of the pdf.
(Note: If your organization’s Form 990 is not listed, identify another organization that has a similar mission as your organization.)
3b. After completing the Check Sheet and considering the IRS Governance and Related Topics that you read for the week, explain at least one protocol you might enlist in your organization to ensure that the governance structure is effective and able to meet the guidelines of the IRS. In your response, provide the direct website link to the organization’s recent Form 990 that was reviewed.
