The paper must answer ONE of the following questions, you may choose whichever–supplementary readings for the questions are attached:
1) Explain Helen de Cruzs etiological challenge to the rationality of religious practices. Then offer the strongest objection you can think of to de Cruzs argument. Does this objection succeed?
2) Explain Ibn Rushds distinction between the philosophical, dialectical, and rhetorical classes of people. Why does he think that philosophical interpretations of scripture should not be taught to members of the latter two classes? How persuasive do you find his argument?
