Step 3: Scroll down and click on Units and then Introducing Literary Discussion. Step 4: Click Activity #2: Analyzing video of group discussion. Step 5: Download the following two files 1) Slides of Viewsing_Decomposing , 2) Viewing and Decomposing Activity Packet and Observation Tool. You may want to print the Viewing and Decomposing Activity Packet and Observation Tool so you can easily explore it. Step 6: Conduct the Video Analysis and Reflection. As you are viewing the video, observe the various teacher moves that you notice the teacher uses to launch and orchestrate the discussion. Timestamps are provided that direct you to episodes that illustrate aspects of the decomposition of leading a class discussion. Examples of specific “teacher moves” and techniques are provided in the packet. Read through them and familiarize yourself with them. Start and stop the video so you read them and take some time to write in your notes when prompted.
