Y‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ou are to respond to a call for proposal. The proposal must outline the project plan of the implementing organization, giving extensive information about the intention for implementing the project, the ways to manage it and the results to be delivered from it. See attached form. The organization has a president at its helm He has a masters degree in management and is the only person with formal NGO management training. It has been agreed that the president would be paid to manage the project as the full time project coordinator. The following outlines the president’s training: Course: Professional NGO Management, 2019 Sponsor: European Union Organizer: UWI Open Campus and the Caribbean Policy Development Centre Location: Online Overview A comprehensive introductory course that provided the learner with the core knowledge, practical skills, and tools to manage and lead a non-governmental organization, effectively. Participants examined the definition of NGOs. They learned about the history of NGOs within a Caribbean context and the various types of development aid, the main organizations involved and their different approaches to development. Participants also discussed the perspectives and challenges of sustainable development. The relevance of NGOs and their role in the social-economic and cultural development of the region was also analyzed. Participants learned how to select tools for fundraising and resource mobilization. Additionally, this course provided the opportunity for an examination of Advocacy and Lobbying practice; challenges to Lobbying within the Caribbean and an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of Advocacy and Lobbying. Participants compared the main Advocacy and Lobbying strategies within developed and developing countries. Module Content Module 1: History and Role of the NGO Sector in the Caribbean Module 2: Understanding Development Issues Module 3: Advocacy and Lobbying Interventions Module 4: Resource Mobilization Overview Developing and Managing Projects in NGOs This course provides a framework for understanding the interrelated process of the project management cycle and how it is used in developing projects for grant funding. This course further delves into the budgeting for and financial management of a project while taking into consideration the requirements of a funder. Last, learners are provided with a brief look into the monitoring and evaluation of a project to show what was accomplished and if the project met its intended goal. Module Content Module 1: Project Cycle Management Module 2: Project Development and Grant Proposal Writing Module 3: Budgeting and Financial Management for Development Projects Module 4: Results-Based Reporting and Evaluation Course: Digital Transformation Training Organizer/Sponsor: The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) Cosponsor: Inter-American Foundation (IAF) Location: Online Overview The online training in ‘digital transformation consisted of seven (7) webinars geared towards solutions for each of the following areas of virtual communications: Digital Communication Technologies: These include conferencing technologies, email, messengers, and team collaboration solutions. ., Skype, Teams, Zoom, WhatsApp etc. Virtual Stakeholder Engagement Tools: Tools that can be used to manage virtual stakeholder engagement, by enabling mechanisms of feedback and collaborative decision making. ., Survey Monkey, Cognito Forms, Question Pro etc. Social Media Marketing: Leveraging commonly used social media platform to increase virtual reach and engagement with communities. ., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. A key objective of the training was to provide enhanced service provision to vulnerable populations impacted by COV‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ID-19 and to increase the application of grassroots development to challenges encountered. Therefore, focus was placed on the development of individual skills needed to support the activities of the following groups: Indigenous Populations (IPS); Persons with Disabilities (PWDs); Children and youth at risk of social exclusion; Women; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) Groups; Low-income populations; Persons that are excluded because of economic standing, migratory background, ethnicity, and cultural beliefs. The following was the outcome of a brainstorming session the President had with his four-member executive team comprising his Vice President, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer and Secretary: Who We Are? The Grenada China Alumni Association (GCAA) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization founded by graduates of programs sponsored by the Chinese government and hosted by Chinese educational and training institutions both in China and here in Grenada. It is the purpose of the GCAA to: • Contribute to bilateral relations between Grenada and the People’s Republic of China. • Facilitate the gathering of alumni. • Encourage and work with prospective students who are desirous of pursuing educational goals in China. • Work with and support Grenadian students in China and after they have graduated. Our Vision To foster an engaged and passionate community of alumni in support of their personal and professional development. Our Mission To promote opportunities that would lead to the further development of GCAA members. What immediate problem is our organization trying to solve? The outbreak of COVID-19 and the substantial measures taken by both the Chinese and Grenadian governments to prevent the spread of the virus are having both direct and indirect impact on Chinese scholarship recipients. While the long-term consequences are difficult to predict, the immediate effects are already visible. Students are facing challenges ranging from social to technological. What do we propose as a solution to this problem? At the beginning of the pandemic many were forced to adapt to change in a hurry, but despite the challenges and change, they are persevering, and we would like to help in providing additional support. Students have expressed the desire for a platform to facilitate much-needed connections and better interaction as they navigate these uncertain times. The GCAA would like to leverage virtual communication technologies to satisfy this desire, facilitate active interactions among our members and create harmonious interactions with other external stakeholders. To archive this, we would like to establish a virtual resource hub. What are our primary institutional capacity constraints? As a young organization we recognize the need for our own internal skills training on the development and implementation of virtual communications technologies. There is urgent need for us to acquire the relevant knowledge which can further enhance our organization’s capacity to improve operations and sustainability prospects. What do we propose as a solution to our capacity constraints? Capacity development training for the GCAA executive in Digital Communication Technologies.
