Write your own, short, children’s book! Our goal is to write a very basic book for young children. Each page of the book will only contain one sentence and the book will be comprised of multiple pages. This week we will only focus on the structure and text of the book. In Week 4 we will then add images to make the book more interesting.
Your story should be original. Have fun with this!
Week 3 Requirements
A full grading rubric will be posted in Week 4.
You will write your own children’s book that will contain at least 8 pages. The required pages are as follows.
Page 1 – Book Cover that contains the title of the book with a link to page 2.
Page 2 – Author’s page that contains copyright information on the book and information about the author as well as a link back to page 1 and forward to page 3. This page must contain the copyright symbol.
Pages 3 through 7 – These are the pages that tell your short story. The reader has the ability to link forward or backward through the book. For example, page 3 should link to both page 2 and page 4. Your story can be longer than 4 pages but this is the minimum length. These pages must contain the page number.
Page 8 – This page indicates that this is “The End” of the book and links to both page 7 and back to page 1, the book’s cover.
Do not use any CSS in your book. This week’s assignment is about site structure only! You may only use semantic HTML for structuring your text for this assignment. If you would like to have items centered on each page you can use the obsolete HTML “center” element as the only non-semantic HTML element in your document to achieve this look. Note that support for the center element is being removed from browsers and this element will be removed from the HTML specification in the future. The preferred way to center items is through CSS but I’m not allowing any CSS in this assignment.
