Like Orwell’s Animal Farm, Zootopia is a beast fable with allegorical meaning. However, while the novel addresses the Russian Revolution and Communism, the film’s focus rests with issues of racism, prejudice and sexism. Regardless of the sociopolitical issues addressed, both the novel and the film serve as powerful lessons for society.
While watching the film, note the ways in which the theme of power is developed while keeping in mind the ways in which Orwell achieves a similar focus. Post film, write a persuasive paragraph on the lessons of power shared by both the novel and film.
For example, one lesson on power could focus on abuse of power as demonstrated by Orwell’s narrative and Zootopia’s story. Be sure to formulate a clear statement on this lesson. For example,Write a research paper on how “Discriminatory behaviour allows for abusive leaders to gain further power”. This statement will serve as the foundation for your analysis.
You must focus on three (3) lessons of power (made into statements). Support your analysis of the novel by including a minimum of three (3) quotations from the novel and three (3) quotations from the film. As this is a formal paragraph, avoid personal pronouns (this includes “you”), contractions, colloquialisms, and slang.
