Should we want everyone to vote?

In the last 80 years, average turnout for Presidential elections has been near 60%. The highest
turnout for a national election was in 1960 (63.8%) and the least was in 1996 (51.7%). In
midterm elections, the percent of voters who turn out to vote is considerably less (~40%).
Therefore, an individual who wins the “majority” in these elections wins anywhere from 25-32%
of the general publics’ support. Should we want everyone to vote? Just because we have the right
to vote, should we encourage every citizen to vote? In 2-3 pages (double spaced) write a
convincing argument for why we should or should not. Be sure to cite at least two (2) credible
sources (Wikipedia does not count). There is not a right or wrong answer here. Provide your honest opinion and back
it up with credible citations. I want your paper to focus on two factors: (1) should we want
everyone to vote; and (2) why or why not. A successful paper will be able to blend these two
discussion points into a coherent argument in favor of your chosen argument.
