You are a delegate sent by your polis to Delphi to consult the oracle about an important matter of state. Drawing upon the readings (found in attached files) on the Delphic oracle, write a “report” of your visit to Apollo’s oracular sanctuary. Some questions you may want to address: How did you get there? What was it like entering the sanctuary? What did you see in it and what did you do before you posed your question to the oracle? What was it like to enter the temple of Apollo? Where was the Pythia and what did she look like? What question did you pose? How did the Pythia respond? What did she (or the god) say? How did you and your fellow citizens interpret the response when you returned home? What action did you take and what was the outcome? Did you correctly interpret the god’s advice?
You need not address all these questions in your report, and you may certainly mention other aspects of the experience, but I would like you to be specific about the question you pose, the response you receive from the Pythia, and how you interpret the response. In writing your report, be imaginative and creative, but try also to base as much of it as you can on the discussions (both ancient and modern) of the oracle (found in attached files)
